The history of Saintha village began around 300 years ago when a person by the name of Saidullah Khan Rana Ulf Saidu fled Jhelum with his mistress and settled in the then forestry area of what is now Saintha. Saidullah had vowed to marry his mistress against the wishes of her family and so one day decided to flee Jhelum along with her. Their journey led them to a place filled with forestry of mainly the Sanatha plant and together they found a spot under a mango tree in paar Saintha to rest for the night. This, then, became the actual location from where they would decide to make the area their home. It was due to the vast forestry of the common Sanatha plant found in the area that Saidullah decided to call his new home Saintha naming the village name after and slightly different to that of the plant. However, a few weeks after their settlement in their new home, it was during one night when the girl’s relatives eventually tracked Saidullah to where he was staying. Whilst both asleep, the relatives of the girl found her and Saidullah resting under a mango tree and when attempting to attack Saidullah, they suddenly realised his beauty and became reluctant to hurt him. They instead swapped one of their swords with his and left the two to rest under the tree in peace. It was some time later when some of the girl’s relatives returned to Saintha and met with Saidullah and explained how they once caught up with him and seeing his beauty, they became more willing to accept his marriage proposal with their sister. They affirmed this wish by swapping their sword with his to show their agreement. Saidullah’s wife bore three sons and one daughter and each eventually spread to different parts of the village to settle in various areas. Amongst the first areas in Saintha to be made into homes was paar Saintha, Hatti area and Kamila area which was named after the Kamila plant found nearby. Around 50 years later, one of the granddaughters of Saidullah was given in marriage to Karam Baksh from a nearby village called Memyaal and it was from here that the full history of Saintha begun.
